How 200 injured and abandoned because of war Odesa cats are treated in the Monastery

This was told by Olena Zahoruiko, a local volunteer in a comment for Svoi.Global. Olena is volunteering in the Monastery since March 2022. Her regular occupation is aesthetic medicine PR.
"I’m just helping out here. Usually, it’s called volunteering, but I don’t like this word," says Olena smiling.
How it started
According to Olena, the "shelter" already existed within the Monastery before the war. It was created by one of the local nuns, Mother Mary. In the beginning, she just took care of a few local stray cats, fed and looked after them.
With the beginning of the war, the word about the cat shelter in the Monastery spread fast. More and more people, fleeing the city, were dropping by the Monastery to leave their beloved pets.
Helped almost 200 cats in Odesa
In the first 2 weeks of the war, the number of animals reached almost 200. A whole team of 7 volunteers came to help Mother Mary in the shelter.
"In the first week, we even did not have time to count all the animals. From morning till night we all were engaged in treatment, sterilization, and adoption of the cats. Once the calculation was done, we realized, we have the families for 80 cats and 22 little kittens!” Olena says.
Currently, according to the latest data, there are 86 cats in the Monastery shelter.
How you can help the shelter
The ‘outside help’ and financial assistance volunteers attract mainly through media channels: Telegram and Instagram. Via these social media, the shelter volunteers also give the information on the funds spent, additional needs that were not covered, and just tell the world about their beautiful cats.
In addition, a special cloud was created where you can check the story of every and each cat, their treatment plans, basic needs, checks, and all the receipts.
"Our basic needs are covered, currently, most of the money is spent on treatment. And that’s considering that we’re trying to save up: instead of going to the clinic for simple procedures such as eye drops, our local girls are doing it".
